Minister
I grew up in North London and became a follower of Jesus in my teens. After 23 years in the printing industry, I answered God’s call to ministry in my early forties. I’ve served as a minister in Chesterfield and Hereford before coming to Lumb. Married to Sarah, with three grown-up children, I am a passionate (and longsuffering) Tottenham Hotspur fan. I also enjoy walking the Rossendale hills with our intellectually challenged dog. Lumb is a loving church, and my prayer is that we grow closer to God and help others discover our wonderful Saviour.
Deacon and Renew Wellbeing host
Originally from Bury, I moved to Rossendale in 1992. Before retiring, I worked part-time as a health and fitness tutor, leading various groups. Now, I lead the Renew Wellbeing group at our church and am an active member of Friends of Bocholt, our twin town. I love baking, especially for the Renew Wellbeing group and my grandchildren, and enjoy experimenting with recipes by reducing sugar and using different flours!
Safeguarding Deacon
As a research scientist, I really enjoy finding out more about God, who I believe is the creator of all things. I also believe that God is personal, and loves us with an everlasting love, shown to all of us through the person of Jesus Christ. Sometimes I preach at our church, when I enjoy sharing some thoughts about what the Bible has to teach us.
Church Secretary
I moved into the Rossendale valley in 2011 and love living here. I enjoy walking, gardening, cooking and catching up with friends in local cafes. I particularly value being part of the fellowship at Lumb Baptist Church.
Deacon
Now retired, I began my career teaching science before transitioning into a specialist role, supporting visually impaired children in mainstream schools. At church, I’m often tucked away in the 'crow's nest,' managing the projection of song lyrics and presentations, and editing and uploading sermon podcasts after the service. I also enjoy studying the Bible and being an active member of a home group. Beyond church, I volunteer at Bacup Community Greenhouses, where horticulture is used to help people connect, socialise, and learn new skills.
Deacon
I was born and raised in Wigan and moved to Rossendale in 1987 after marrying Elizabeth. After graduating from Lancashire Polytechnic in 1986, I worked in the chemical industry until semi-retiring in January 2022. I have been playing the trombone since I was 12, starting with the school band and a local Coal Board Brass Band, and now I regularly play in the church praise group on Sunday mornings. In my free time, I enjoy walking and cycling.
Designated Person for Safeguarding
Originally from Burnley, I moved to the Rossendale Valley in 1978 and have enjoyed fellowshipping with other members of Lumb Baptist Church ever since. I also love exploring the beautiful hills of the Valley and, as a recent Burnley FC season ticket holder, supporting my hometown team.
Deacon
Having served as church secretary for over 40 years, I’ve had the privilege of being deeply involved in many aspects of church life. Though I can’t attend as many events as I used to, I still enjoy being part of the church community and participating whenever I can.
Treasurer
I grew up attending Lumb Baptist Church and love being an active part of the Lumb community. In my spare time, I swim regularly at Marl Pits pool, enjoy outdoor swimming, and love baking. Fluent in French after training as a bilingual secretary and studying in France, I strive to provide clear and meaningful financial reports to the church membership in my role as treasurer.
